As 2020 went from bad to worse I resolved to try and celebrate our city in my work for the first time. The result is my new luxury silk scarf collection: MEMORY SQUARE. Memory Square is an imaginary Aberdonian address filled with old friends and happy times. Each of the 3 designs in the collection celebrates a beloved local landmark, immortalised on exquisite silk.

No.3 Memory Square is called IMMERSION and is my celebration of the wonderful Bon Accord Baths. It’s the building in Aberdeen that provokes the greatest number of nostalgic sighs among my peers. From the welcoming sycamore-panelled curves of the lobby to the soaring concrete arches of the ceilings, it’s safe to say they don’t make ‘em like that any more.

But sadly, having been declared surplus to requirements in 2008, this beautiful 80-year-old building is suffering from vandalism and neglect. A charity called Bon Accord Heritage is fundraising to stabilise the building, and make it wind and water tight. Which is why I’ve pledged to donate £10 from the sale of every IMMERSION gift set bought in my webshop to Bon Accord Heritage.

The first 10 scarves in each MEMORY SQUARE design is accompanied by an EXCLUSIVE LIMITED EDITION MEMENTO. In the case of IMMERSION, I’ve commissioned 10 coordinating cotton canvas washbags from top Scottish textiles product manufacturers Kalopsia.

Each IMMERSION gift set includes:

• a 67cm square silk satin scarf. Designed by me in Aberdeen, the scarves are expertly printed and hemmed in England, with hand-finished machine rolled edges. Scarves are dry clean only and are delivered wrapped in tissue paper and grey cotton dustbags.

• a roomy organic cotton canvas washbag with a box bottom construction made by Kalopsia. (h20cm x w20cm x d7cm)
