About SWELL
Seems like everything’s been happening in waves this past few years doesn’t it? Terrible things like pandemic waves, heat waves, wave upon wave of political and social insecurity. But all the best things too: waves of support, gratitude and generosity, waves of music, waves of light, waves washing up on the beach.
SWELL is my interpretation of all the good kind of waves. I like the American meaning of the word; swell as in excellent. Because despite some really difficult years for small businesses, the waves of support from customers, suppliers, subscribers and mentors has been just swell. This pattern represents taking a long dip in that sea of positivity.
Why the twist?
When you loop a circular scarf around your neck more than once, the garment naturally has to twist. I incorporated one full twist into this circular scarf so that it can “unwind” when you loop it round your neck. This can result in the scarf sitting more smoothly against the body.
The twist also allows you to wear it ‘figure-of-eight style’ around your body if you wish - with the top of the ‘eight’ behind your neck, a crossover your front, and the lower edge of the ‘eight’ around the small of your back. (See the final photograph.) This is my favourite way to wear a circular scarf under a winter coat!
